Amanda the Adventurer

As a rare example of unique game design, Amanda the Adventurer does not rely much on jump scares and similar traditional horror elements, but instead, it builds its horror atmosphere by slowly taking the best moments that were popularized by found footage horror genre and building its pacing toward the memorable end fight. Even though it uses simple visuals, dated design elements, and a simplistic gameplay approach, this famous indie horror game title deserves to be experienced.



Amanda the Adventurer allows the players to explore their environments in a first-person perspective, introducing not only elements of exploration, puzzle solving, and action but also increased immersive and simulation. At first, players are welcomed with simple low-poly environments with bright colors, but quickly enough the user will start discovering mature references, and frightening or disturbing moments, which will quickly transform this title from an approachable adventure to a living nightmare that the player will struggle to survive.

The game features a forking narrative that can lead to two distinct endings, but since its complete campaign can last only 15 minutes of gameplay, it has very limited replayability. Users can quickly replay the game to see the other (very different) ending, and there are sadly no additional gameplay elements such as hidden quests, collectible items, or more.

Instead of being distributed as an automated installer that will deploy the game on your desktop or laptop PC with a simple double click, this game can only be downloaded from the web inside a compressed archive. Users are required to manually unpack the game and start it via the provided EXE file.

For fans of the horror genre, Amanda the Adventurer is a must-play horror game. Since it is 100% FREE, quick to download, and very light on resources, it can easily be played even on older desktop and laptop PCs, enabling anyone to be surprised and frightened by this indie experience. The game masterfully uses low-poly environments to showcase a slow-burn horror story, and the only thing it lacks is a longer campaign and some additional replayability.
