Excel Mobile is a lightweight viewer app for Windows 11/10 that allows users to effortlessly open and view Excel spreadsheets, workbooks and display comments. Fast and reliable, this official app made by the Microsoft Office team can quickly open all files created with Microsoft Excel, no matter their size and complexity. The app supports viewing worksheets in all its forms (including charts and other visualizations), browse contents of workbooks, display comments, and enable sharing of Excel files via integrated support for the OneDrive cloud storage service.

This application is built from the ground up to work only on Windows 10 and Windows 11. It can be installed directly from its official Microsoft Store page by simply clicking on the large “Get” button. Users should be aware that in order to open and handle all Excel documents, the installation package of this app weighs almost 200MB. After it is installed, users can easily automatically open any Excel file on their PC by simply double-clicking on them directly from the desktop or File Explorer.

What Excel Mobile can’t do is edit files. It functions solely as a spreadsheet reader with an added option to see associated comments. Users can view files, mark them for online sharing via OneDrive or send them to the printer. Editing and saving are only possible if the user has an active Office 365 subscription. However, this unlocks the limited option for editing and saving. For full editing functionality, users are advised to load their files in the full Excel app that is available for all Office 365 subscribers.
