Five Nights at Freddy's World (FNaF World) is a spinoff of the popular horror franchise that tries to acclimate fans to a totally new gaming genre – a turn-based RPG. Instead of delivering to players a traditional horror experience found in the mainline FNAF titles, with first-person gameplay and spooky camera feeds inside the haunted environment full of demonic animatronic characters, this game moves more toward the gameplay seen in the traditional Japanese RPG titles where the player manages a party of characters and engages in tactical turn-based combat. Sadly, the final product that is presented to the player is weak and disappointing.

In Five Nights at Freddy's World, players have the ability to control up to 40 characters that are taken from the rich FNAF history and explore a fantasy world that is sadly completely devoid of horror. Instead of having a strong atmosphere that his franchise is best known for, this spinoff title has a totally normal storyline with very little appeal. The main quest of the game puts the in-game characters on the mission to find the source of the rot and decay that has started to spread across the world. But the game has no narrative elements, no pacing, and not even a clear plot that can justify any event that happens inside the game.

The gameplay of the title fares no better. The main battle screen features the players and opponents’ team that can have up to 4 active members on each side. All moves are poorly animated, with little to no description of their effectiveness. And throughout the entire campaign, the player is not enabled to perform any meaningful tactical choices, with options to just repeat the same moves over and over again (attack, defend and heal). This total lack of strategy makes the entire game essentially pointless, enabling players to just spam the same moves until the game credits roll. The game world is bland, and even collecting new party members have been made meaningless – they are found randomly.

The only bright point of the FNaF World game is that it features a roster of 40 animatronic monsters that were featured in various FNAF titles over the years. Everything else is either bland or actively hindering enjoyment during the play.

As an insult to injury, the negative press and user reception have forced the creator of the game Scott Cawthon to remove the Five Nights at Freddy's World from the PC digital distribution platform Steam until the game has been significantly redesigned. Today, players can only download the original demo and marvel at the incredible ineffectiveness of this game’s design.
